Job Description

 

The Design Engineer will be part of a dynamic Global Product Development team based in Taiwan, supporting global projects and designing innovative connectivity solutions for data centre, semiconductor, and other high-growth applications. Operating within a matrix organisation, this role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Marketing, Project Management, Industrial Engineering, and Quality—across multiple time zones, while working with global counterparts in Germany, the US, China, India, and other key development locations.

 

The incumbent will serve as a technical design expert for global project execution in Taiwan, providing guidance on product functionality, feasibility, and manufacturability during pre-development and concept stages. The role will engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to capture requirements, translate market needs into practical design concepts, and coordinate solution development. Strong collaboration, communication, and project coordination are essential to ensure seamless concept development, successful implementation, and alignment with quality, efficiency, and local market requirements.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and elaboration of creative and innovative connector concepts to support product management to create competitive products in applications.
  • Working closely with customers to identify functional and non-functional product requirements
  • Coordination of concept developments with the development team(s) e.g. in US, China, India, Germany but also other subsidiaries to ensure a seamless flow of information and promote the successful implementation of projects.
  • Working together with the global product development team in identifying and implementing optimal solutions to increase efficiency and quality, as well as adapting to the specific requirements for local markets.
  • Close cooperation with related departments Industrial Engineering, Quality and Complaints.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant connector design experience in development of data centre and semiconductor or related connectivity solutions project
  • Experience in the development and coordination of demanding pre-development projects with numerous international interfaces and stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and assembly to produce high-quality application solutions.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX is a must, experienced handling of common CAD and FEM software are advantageous.
  • Business‑fluent English with excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willing to travel due to business needs
