Purpose:

 

The Senior IT Project Manager with SAP Focus is responsible for leading and delivering complex SAP-related projects and programs that are critical to HARTING’s strategic and operational objectives. The role ensures successful project execution across SAP landscapes, business processes, and integration areas from initiation to completion, achieving defined scope, timeline, budget, and quality targets while delivering measurable business value. The role acts as a key interface between business stakeholders, SAP functional teams, SAP technical teams, external partners, and IT governance bodies.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads the end-to-end delivery of complex SAP projects and programs across functions, regions, teams and business process areas.
  • Manages SAP transformation, rollout, migration, upgrade, integration, and optimization initiatives.
  • Defines project scope, objectives, deliverables, success criteria, assumptions, and dependencies in close alignment with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and cutover-relevant activities.
  • Coordinates SAP functional teams, SAP development, SAP Basis, SAP reporting, business process owners, key users, external implementation partners, and other involved IT teams.
  • Ensures alignment of project delivery with SAP architecture principles, integration requirements, governance standards, and business process objectives.
  • Identifies, assesses, and manages project risks, issues, dependencies, changes, and escalations, especially in relation to business continuity, data migration, interfaces, testing, and deployment readiness.
  • Drives structured stakeholder management and transparent communication with project sponsors, steering committees, business leads, IT leadership, and delivery teams.
  • Facilitates decision-making and resolves escalations within the project or prepares decisions for governance bodies where required.
  • Ensures adherence to project governance, portfolio management standards, documentation requirements, and reporting routines.
  • Monitors project progress, performance, budget utilization, resource capacity, and delivery quality.
  • Coordinates testing, training, change enablement, cutover preparation, go-live readiness, hypercare, and transition to operations.
  • Ensures high-quality deliverables, stakeholder satisfaction, and realization of expected business outcomes.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Proven experience in managing complex IT projects or programs with a strong focus on SAP environments across multiple locations and teams.
  • Experience in SAP implementation, rollout, migration, upgrade, or transformation projects, preferably including SAP S/4HANA or SAP cloud-related initiatives.
  • Good understanding of SAP end-to-end business processes and SAP modules such as FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, SCM, EWM, BW/BI, Basis, or related integration areas.
  • Strong project management expertise and certification, for example IPMA C/B, PMI, PRINCE2, or agile frameworks.
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional SAP teams, business process owners, key users, external implementation partners, and technical delivery teams.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, steering committee preparation, risk and issue management, change control, budget tracking, and resource coordination.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, moderation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to structure complex SAP-related dependencies and decision needs.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deliver results in a dynamic, international, and business-critical environment.
  • Fluent English skills; German or additional languages are an advantage.

  • Escalates critical topics to Project Sponsor, steering committee, portfolio governance, or IT leadership when required.
  • Ensures accurate, transparent, and timely project reporting, including progress, risks, issues, budget, resources, and key decisions.
  • Ensures readiness for testing, cutover, go-live, hypercare, and transition to operations.
  • Promotes standardization, process orientation, and sustainable SAP solution delivery.
