We are seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to join our growing Production Development department at our Elgin, IL facility.
In this role you will design and develop production plans and processes, identify areas of process improvement throughout the organization, and provide process support for internal customers. To do so, you will work closely with our Global Process Management team and a team of process management “moderators” throughout the Americas’ Headquarters here in Elgin, IL. HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
- Monitor process improvement data including flow, efficiency and layout
- Implement the HARlis (HARTING Learning & Improvement System) strategy and achieve the HARlis KPIs targets
- Identify best practice solutions inside and outside of the group, derive improvement potentials for HARlis and create implementation strategies with the local management as well as progress tracking during implementation
- Actively plan (derived from the global strategy) and perform optimization workshops and projects applying HARlis standards/templates
- Coordinate and organize projects in relation to process management and create a supportive environment for an active knowledge development and transfer for HARlis.
- Communicate goals and strategy company-wide
- Conduct studies to improve equipment efficiency regarding quality, availability and throughput
- Provide process support and training to production
Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering field
- 3+ years of related work experience in electrical or mechanical engineering field
- 3+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of engineering practices/procedures regarding electronic components
- Follow standard practices/procedures to develop solutions for simple engineering issues
- Basic level failure analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Work independently and in a team environment
- Moderate level computer skills including Microsoft Office and CAD
- Working knowledge of manufacturing principles including Six Sigma and/or Kaizen or Lean Manufacturing
- Good conflict resolution
- Prioritize and multitask

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:
Compensation:
- HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
- Competitive base salary: $70,000-$90,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
- This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
