Job Purpose

The PLM/MES Application Consultant is the bridge between business users and the Advaris MES/PLM platform at HARTING. This role focuses on understanding user needs, translating them into system configurations, and ensuring that the application delivers maximum value to manufacturing and production operations.

The consultant acts as the primary contact for end users, provides training and support, manages master data quality, and coordinates functional testing — ensuring the platform evolves in line with business requirements and operational best practices.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise and guide application users on the capabilities and correct use of the Advaris MES/PLM platform
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into configuration changes within the application
  • Plan, implement, and document configuration changes
  • Act as 1st level support, handling user inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and escalating to higher-level support if necessary
  • Conduct user training and onboarding for new Advaris users
  • Validate and support master data quality for material master data, BOMs, routings/work plans, and product-related data
  • Collect, structure, and prioritize user feedback and improvement requests for submission to the vendor
  • Maintain configuration documentation and user-facing guidelines and manuals
  • Assess business impact of changes and releases and coordinate functional regression testing with key users

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a comparable field
  • General understanding of IT systems and enterprise applications
  • Good understanding of manufacturing or production processes (e.g., shop floor operations, production planning, quality management)
  • Structured and analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into system configurations
  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented attitude toward end users
  • Ability to create clear documentation and training materials
  • Willingness to learn and work with a specialized application

Preferred Certifications:

  • Experience with MES, PLM, or ERP systems (strong advantage)
  • Familiarity with master data management concepts
  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
