We are looking for an Industrial Engineer to drive development, industrialization and introduction of manufacturing processes within our Product Development team at our Elgin, IL facility.
HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
- The development & industrialization of all necessary manufacturing processes within assigned projects, including the planning, procurement and implementation of the required manufacturing resources (machines, fixtures, tools).
- The calculation of Manufacturing costs, injection molding, assembly etc.
- Supporting P-FMEA’s
- Create process flow charts and production layouts for NPI
- Create production related views in SAP (routing, BOM, equipment, work center, calculation)
- Collaborate with local production Industrial Engineers to analyze capacity impacts of NPI
- Assessment/estimation of the investment costs
- Create specifications for required production equipment
- Participate in the evaluation of concept studies and potential projects for the project and location decision
- Drive the coordination of global change requests
- Push further development of the product development process as well as the necessary methods and standards
- Proactively communicate with employees, supervisors and other departments
- Participate in the active transfer of knowledge in the global operational environment and at interfaces
Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or comparable specialized training preferred. Note: Extensive relevant experience and proven expertise may substitute for the required degree
- 5-10 years engineering work experience in a related industry and/or training
- 5-10 years engineering experience with injection molding product methodology
- Computer skills: Windows based applications, AutoCAD
- SAP experience preferred
- Excellent written, oral and communication skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of important QC principles
- Knowledge of project management
- Open to some travel (including International)

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:
Compensation:
- HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
- Competitive base salary: $70,000 - $100,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
- This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
