We are seeking a technically-savvy Market Development Intern based in Elgin, IL (Northwest of Chicago) to support the Director of Market Development and the Industry Segment Managers as they provide go-to-market solutions to address under-penetrated vertical markets.
As our experts in the Energy, Automation, and Machinery markets focus on market and customer development internationally, and our intern will conduct market research to understand target customers and applications for our products. An engineer with a passion for business / consulting will thrive in this role!
HARTING's Intern Development Program (Summer 2025) consists of full-time, paid, and on-site internships. Our internships are an opportunity to work on hands-on projects with your team, to work cross-functionally with other departments, and gain exposure to the technical aspects of our company. Please note: we do not provide housing in Illinois.
You will have the opportunity to be exposed to the following:
- Gain understanding of data center and electric vehicle industry.
- Create market landscape maps for critical growth sub-segments within our four major markets of machinery, automation, energy, and transportation. Specifically, map value chain to the end user of HARTING product, including adjacent players who are decision makers or influencers for connectivity purchasing decisions. The candidate will “follow all money trails” and create the landscape map so HARTING can best penetrate and grow these critical markets.
- Handle various ‘sleuthing’ projects to research and document information on a market segment’s ecosystem.
Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Master's in Engineering / Business, or MBA.
- Ability to interpret professional journals, technical procedures, mechanical and electrical prints, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and answer questions from groups of managers and customers.
