Senior Innovation Scientist Engineer

Base Salary Compensation: $122,221 - $133,224
Responsibilities:
Use mechanical engineering principles to research, process development, and design equipment and systems of related technologies. Products developed are electrical connectors, waterproofing features, electronic sensors, mechatronic systems or test benches for innovation center projects. Innovate and develop disruptive mechanical and electrical industrial products. Design, develop, or implement control circuits or algorithms for electromechanical or pneumatic devices or systems.--(10%). Create by designing the mechanical functions and cost structure and revenue forecast analysis of new product/business ideas such as integrating electronics in Electrical connectors or designing products with new materials. Create mechanical design documents for parts, assemblies, or finished products -- (10%). Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment. Implement or test design solutions. Manage projects with multiple levels of complexity that may require collaboration across regional and international teams -- (10%). Identify new market opportunities and deploy capstone project such as immersion cooling from Data Centers with universities to further research. Include all project and team coordination and deliverables and team member selection -- (10%). Project supervision with partner university Capstone team. Execute on co-creation projects of mechatronics products -- (7.5%). Identify, collaborate and partner with strategic partners, research institutions, and other companies. Align on business need with partners, and cocreate industrial prototypes of electrical connectors, waterproofing features, electronic sensors or test benches with external partners. Deliverables include prototypes of increasing maturity level significantly different from core business -- (7.5%). Investigate, propose, and develop disruptive materials, fabrication processes products and services for new business models and value streams -- (5%). Scan and scout new business opportunities related to technical development of connectivity -- (5%). Lead customer facing calls- including preparing material, organizing with sales, and reporting results to leadership -- (5%). Organize connectivity events to foster idea generation and exposure to new markets -- (5%). Internally champion new concepts and business models to core business for adoption -- (5%). Scan and scout new technologies to pursue innovative approaches and applications --(2.5%). Be present in local technology start up networks and communities for scouting -- (2.5%). Communicate results and opportunities to technical and non-technical stakeholders/audiences -- (2.5%). File for patents as necessary to protect and enhance company IP portfolio -- (2.5%). Maintain, operate and manage lab equipment, as necessary. Own roadmap for local lab equipment and tooling -- (2.5%). Evaluate buy vs rent vs outsource for testing needs. Maintain, operate, and manage lab equipment as necessary -- (2.5%). Participate in customer-facing calls -- (2.5%). Create pitch decks to convince internal stake holders of value generation of new concepts /markets/ products/business plans. Present to executive management -- (2.5%). 30% of domestic and international travel. Remote work option as permitted or required.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, U.S. or foreign equivalent and 3 years of relevant experience in new product development in the Innovation Scientist, Mechanical Engineer, Product Designer, or related or comparable occupation within the industry. Previous experience must include new product innovation and 3 years with each set of skills gained by work experience or coursework:(1) Research and development experience, including Concept development, 3D printing, Test plan development, Plastic injection molding/ mold development, Creepage, and clearance design proficiency. Sourcing for prototype development, and Electronics design & software proficiency (KICAD, Altium or similar). (2) NX proficiency in 3D modeling, including Technical Drawing according to ISO GPS, Mechanical & structural simulation using (NX Routing mechanical tool), 3D Animation and rendering (NX Animation Designer module). (3) Business development, including creating and delivering pitch deck with concepts and business cases, conducting Return on Investment analysis, project Net Present Value, market research including qualitative voice of customer research & quantitative macro trend analysis, target account planning, competitive landscape analysis, and managing pipeline of open sales opportunities. (4) Intellectual property experience in writing and submitting invention disclosure to the US patent office, experience with both traditional patent work and defensive patent work, and experience in purchasing and licensing patent technology. (5) Market-specific subject matter expertise with a proven body of work in one of the following key industrial markets -Data centers, Semiconductors, Machinery, Automation, Railway, Robotics, and Energy.
