Plant Controller

We are seeking Plant Controller (Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois) to be a strategic financial leader who can influence the future direction of the company, run an efficient and effective finance operation, manage risk, and ensure sustainable growth. Day-to-day would involve directing controlling and accounting activities for HARTING, Inc. North American manufacturing by performing the following duties in accordance with the HARTING global corporate guidelines. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance - Americas, the Plant Controller will be critical to advising the Operations team as we pursue future growth. 

 

HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard product, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives. 

 

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to: 

  • Strategic
    • Act as a business partner with regards to the commercial process and ensure that the results meet the requirements of our customers in terms of time, accuracy and costs
    • Ability to communicate and present material at the executive level and influence management decisions
    • Accomplished in continuous improvement processes, and introducing methods to become leaner, better integrated and faster
    • Strong mindset of developing results-oriented decision-making processes
    • Adept at analyzing results, its impact, and the financial effects of investment decisions
  • Financial
    • Manage all manufacturing finance activities
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances as per corporate guidelines and deadlines for all HARTING companies of North America.
    • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and reports using MS Excel, Access and SAP BW for all HARTING North America manufacturing.
    • Evaluate cash flow and ensure appropriate cash levels for all bank accounts for US, and Mexico.
    • Monitor and prepare monthly closing activities for variance analysis, forecast, using the company’s ERP system (SAP).
    • Deep knowledge of standard and actual costing as it pertains to manufacturing costs
    • Coordinate consolidation requirements, including coordination with outside accounting firms for year-end review.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travle up to 5%.

 

Must have skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university;
  • 8-10 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Proven work experience as a Plant Controller
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • SAP experience, including Business Warehouse, Business Objects & Business, Planning & Consolidation is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word & PowerPoint is required. Advanced Access skills are preferred.

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:

Compensation:

  • HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage. 
  • Competitive base salary: $110,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • This role is eligible for a 15% discretionary annual bonus.
