We are seeking a Injection Molding Engineer (based in Elgin, Illinois) to support the operation in the injection molding area, purchasing equipment, help bring the new technologies, and development of new products.
To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
- Serve as the project manager for the launch of new tooling through regular communication with and review of the tool shop activities and progress to ensure new tool builds are designed and built.
- Provide input for new project quotes to ensure planned equipment is suitable.
- On-Time Completion, Quality, and Cost Targets associated with the Implementation of New Injection Molds, machines and projects into Production
- Participate in problem solving efforts for root cause determination of part defects
- Reviews mold vendor design proposals and assures functional mold performance.
- Interfaces with customers and suppliers on project matters, mold and fixture design, validation, and product quality issues.
- Responsible for ensuring Design for Manufacturability – advises customers on required mold/part design changes
- Develop and optimize injection molding processes for tight-tolerance, short-run production
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
Skills And Experience to Thrive In This Role
- +5 years of injection molding experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or Engineering degree or relevant experience may substitute for the required degree
- Working knowledge of engineering terminology and technical experience with injection molding, processes, tooling and validation protocols.
- Strong customer/supplier/vendor communication and follow-up skills
- Working experience with new product launch concepts and implementation with a continuous improvement mindset
- Supports global team interactions and projects
- Familiarity with problem solving techniques and flexibility
- Exceptional attention to detail in a collaborative and team driven environment
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to identify and define problems, and employ a logical, methodical approach to solving them is required.

Compensation
HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
- Competitive base salary: $80,000 - $100,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
- This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
