HARTING Americas is seeking a dynamic Director of Sales - Industrial Markets to lead, strategically plan, and oversee all sales activities across the United States. You will drive market expansion within critical industrial sectors—including machinery, semiconductor, automation, and mobility—while leading a high-performing sales team.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:

  • Assess the market; develop, drive and maintain a sales business plan for OEM direct sales and Key Accounts and deliver revenue targets.
  • Drive and coordinate all necessary activities in the sales area to achieve annual sales budget.
  • Recruit, support, motivate, coach and review performance of personnel towards the accomplishment of their individual MBO targets and sales budget.
  • Maintain a high-performance team through understanding team competencies and employee development.
  • Build direct relationships at the executive level with identified strategic accounts to enable access and a deep understanding of customer business needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership team internally to formulate, analyze, and recommend ideas, policies, and objectives to reduce cost, increase efficiency, improve operation and/or ensure the most effective operation of field sales activities, and ensure that policies and objectives are fully understood and executed by all assigned personnel.
  • Manage Sales team within the limits of Corporate and Sales Department policies to achieve sales objectives, in addition to personally assigned MBOs.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for sales targets and design-in goals.
  • Works with outside sales to focus their efforts on selected market segments and the development of new customer applications.
  • Ensures that sales team executes minimum required volume of customer meetings with critical customer accounts per month.
  • Ensures that Sales team properly utilizes Microsoft Dynamics CRM, with respect to the timely update of opportunities, business activities including tasks and visits, and all customer master data.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reports to HARTING management and participate in quarterly review as required, including sales activity, corrective actions, and forecasting.
  • Prepares annual forecasts for budgeting.
  • Manage assigned team’s T&E related expenses and profitability for the assigned region.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Mid-level management and individual contributors within the Sales and Key Accounts functions
  • Provide leadership to sales team by motivating employees to achieve peak performance
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring, training and mentoring, assigning and directing work, overseeing creation and execution of strategic account development plans, appraising performance, profitability and pricing direction, addressing customer complaints, executing corrective actions to resolve problems.
  • Assist sales representatives by supporting product launches, market promotions, and various customer issues.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HARTING’s policies and applicable laws.

 

Skills and experience to thrive in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Engineering or Science related field
  • 7+ years of outside sales and/or management experience (minimum 2 of which in a supervisory role), preferably in the electrical or electronics industries.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making ability with demonstrated success in building effective sales teams and meeting regional sales goals in highly competitive environments.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and other business partners.
  • Possess broad knowledge of electronic component, industrial connector, industrial networking, PCB, and backplane business in technology.
  • Understands connectivity processes/applications and can actively apply this knowledge to day-to-day sales.
  • Experience managing and/or selling technologies as complete solutions, subsolutions and as individual components in projects.
  • Knowledge of latest developments in connectivity technology and can identify trends in target markets
  • Understands the customers technical requirements in terms of connectivity technology in various applications and can support the design in process.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel within assigned market area approximately 60% of time.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, adequate vehicle and car insurance, and good driving record
  • Valid passport required for international travel
  • Working knowledge of office automation tools such as E-mail, Microsoft Office Suite and CRM.

HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including:

Compensation:

  • HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
  • Competitive base salary: $175K-$200K (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location).
  • This role is eligible for a 20% discretionary annual bonus.
